From stars to polygons, you can add anything with the help of this option. Shape: You can include almost any shape as per your requirements. It will stay there until you unlock it manually. Lock/Unlock layer: If you do not want a layer to be edited or removed accidentally, you can lock the layer. You can add various effects with the help of layer functionality. Layer: It is probably the most important feature that you are going to use for professional editing. However, here is a list of all the highlighted features you may find interesting. You need to start using it to explore all. Inkscape has countless options and features that you cannot be listed down in one place. You can edit an existing photo or create a new image from scratch! This article explains all the features, options, and image edits you can do with Inkscape. The only reason why I would use Illustrator would be the insane speed that its GPU accelerated renderer achieves but given that Inkscape has the potential to run way faster than it currently does, I think porting it to ARM would really tighten the gap between the two softwares and finally give people a better alternative to the lacking Affinity designer and Corel Draw.If you want a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator, you can undoubtedly check out Inkscape on your Windows 11/10 computer. I tried every other vector graphics software alternative out there and only Illustrator got close to Inkscape in terms of features and ease of use.

I won't speculate but I will add that not porting Inkscape to ARM will be a hugely missed opportunity. Now either Rosetta translates Inkscape to ARM better than Inkscape is written for x86 or the M1 is simply way faster than the I7 10700. Now just so I could check all of my options, I bought an M1 to see if Inkscape would work a bit better on it and to my amazement it runs just as well if not faster than on my Windows machine ( the difference in performance when running it on Linux is marginal and not worth the hassle ). I really wanted to work on a Mac for that fabulous 5k screen but to be honest the experience of using Inkscape on that machine is utterly horrible. I use Inkscape on a daily basis for my work and my files are usually pretty much heavy loaded with a lot of objects and text.

I have a 2020 I7 Imac and recently got an M1 mac air.
